A large number of local sporting clubs have received $2500 grants under Round 3 of the State Government’s Active Clubs program.

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington congratulated the clubs for securing the grants which will be used to help purchase much-needed equipment, support volunteers and run come and try days.

“This is a great result for our region and excellent recognition for our hardworking volunteers who keep our sporting clubs running,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“These grassroots clubs are the backbone of local communities and with this funding they’ll be able to encourage more participation in all types of sport recreation activities, from horse riding to bowls, soccer, golf and much, much more.

“I would also like to congratulate the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club, who have secured $206,000 through the Minor Infrastructure Program for their Gordonbrook Dam Trail Network, a project which aims to create a high-quality riding destination of between 15-20km, catering for all ages and abilities.

“This is an amazing project that creates economic and health opportunities for our local community as well as promoting the South Burnett as an adventure tourism hub for south-eastern Queensland.”
