T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy was filled with eager young rugby league footballers last weekend for trials to select “possibles” and “probables” to represent Wide Bay in the annual Queensland Schools competition.

About 90 Under 11 players from the South Burnett, North Burnett, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Gympie and Maryborough played round robin games on Saturday and Sunday to allow selectors to see them in action.

The squad selected will go to Townsville to compete on July 3-7.
