It’s finished! Award-winning artist Joel Fergie, aka The Zookeeper, put the finishing touches to his massive Kingaroy CBD mural on Easter Monday.

The artwork stretches the length of the Hector Munro laneway between Kingaroy Street and the Council carpark behind the banks.

It was organised by local resident Cr Kirstie Schumacher and funded by Stanwell’s Tarong Community Partnership Fund after the owners of the building, Alwyn and Dianne Reid, generously gave their permission.

Joel has worked a ton of local iconography into the work, from flora and fauna to sporting caps and even a jar of peanut paste!

Tingoora artist Robyn Dower worked alongside Joel on parts of the project.

While in Kingaroy, Joel also led a South Burnett CTC mural workshop for eight young artists at the Kingaroy Youth Park which created another great artwork for the town.

Not-for-profit group South Burnett Arts Inc auspiced these two projects.
