Nanango Lions Club hosted the Q4 District Final of the Youth of the Year competition at the Nanango RSL Club on Saturday.
Four high school students competed for the honour of representing the District at the Regional Final, which will be held in Rockhampton next weekend.
The students represented Lions Clubs in Nanango, Gympie South, Gympie and Caloundra.
Nanango State High School student Declan Cogger won the local club competition last Thursday, giving him just a few days to prepare for the District competition.
The students were interviewed by the judges during the afternoon.
They then had to deliver two timed impromptu speeches before an audience, and then a pre-prepared speech.
Nanango Lions Club secretary Jenny Robinson chaired the competition.
The winner was Gympie’s St Patrick’s College student Jasmine White, representing Gympie South Lions Club.
