South Burnett Regional Council will conduct community consultations next month on an upgrade to the lower portion of Scott Street, Wondai.

The works – between Haly and Edwards streets – will complement a proposed upgrade to Wondai’s highway roundabout and are expected to be carried out next financial year.

At Wednesday’s Infrastructure Standing Committee meeting, Councillors were shown some initial concept drawings of the proposal.

The drawings were made after a consultation round and walk-through conducted by Council’s planning staff with some community members, led by the Mayor and several councillors.

Feedback from the public consultation meetings will be collected and presented to a full Council meeting later this year, after which final plans will be drawn up and work will begin.

The project has a budget of $700,000 and will be funded by the State Government’s Works For Queensland grant program.

A public notice about the community consultation meetings is expected to issued by Council in the near future.
