Ballogie resident Les Prickett has tossed his hat into the ring for the March 2024 South Burnett council election.
Mr Prickett made his announcement on Facebook late last week.
He intends to challenge sitting councillor Scott Henschen in Division 6.
In his announcement, Mr Prickett wrote he had decided to run because he believed “the current Councillor is heading in the wrong direction and leading us towards a more City-style governance”.
“I will being a fresh, energetic, sensible approach to being YOUR voice on council,” he wrote.
Liberal Democrats Queensland State president Anthony Bull confirmed Mr Prickett is the Liberal Democrats branch convenor for the South Burnett.
“However, he is not at this time a member of the Qld State Executive. He may have confused this with his position on our election campaign committee,” Mr Bull said.
He said the Liberal Democrats would be supporting Mr Prickett at the local election.
