Kingaroy Blue’s top scorer Charlie Ploetz was caught behind for 32 runs

Nanango Yellow defeated Kingaroy Services Blue by 72 runs during their Round 10 South Burnett senior cricket match last Saturday, played at Taabinga State School.

Nanango won the toss and elected to bat.

They were all out for 190 in the 32nd over, after Stephen Kirkland hit a ton.

Lachlan Watson (2/20 off five overs) and Clinton Blanch (2/19 off four) finished with the best bowling figures for Kingaroy.

In reply, Kingaroy Services Blue were all out for 118 in the 32nd over.

Charlie Ploetz top-scored with 32, after opener Joshua Fearby began well with 26.

Nanango bowlers shared the honours with seven taking wickets, but Jayden Prendergast (3/12 off five) finished with the best figures.

A sharp catch by the Nanango Yellow wicketkeeper Joseph Steinhardt saw Kingaroy Blue’s Tim Blanch out for a duck

Murgon Crusaders  (4/200 declared and 2/77) defeated Gympie Royals (112 and 99) by 86 runs at Murgon Sportsground.

Damien Sippel scored a century (not out) in Murgon’s first innings.

Openers Lachlan Zelinksi (43) and Nathan Roderick (26) scored the necessary runs in the second.

Jared Sippel (1/15 and 3/20), Jack Webber (3/19) and Nick Sanewski (3/6) finished with the best bowling figures.

South Burnett junior representative teams were in action at Murgon Sportsground on Sunday against sides from the Fraser Coast:

  • U12 – Fraser Coast (148 all out) def. South Burnett (71 all out) by 77 runs.

  • U14 – Fraser Coast (7/264) def. South Burnett (138 all out) by 126 runs.

Goodchild Shield

South Burnett defeated Bundaberg by one run in their Round 3 Goodchild Shield game played at Salter Oval in Bundaberg on Sunday.

South Burnett won the toss and batted first.

They were all out for 103 in the 32nd over.

Jared Sippel top-scored with 42 while Michael Wostear made 17.

In reply, Bundaberg were all out for 102 in the 36th over.

Jared Sippel took 3/15 off 10 overs (including three maidens) while Ashley Sippel took 3/16 off 5.2.

South Burnett has finished in top spot on the ladder, ahead of Bundaberg, Fraser Coast and Gympie.

The final, which will be played in the South Burnett, is scheduled to be played on February 19.
