Warriors’ Hayden Wieck in action … Wieck put on a strong display on Saturday against Gympie Colts

The Grand Final of the Gympie A Grade One-Day competition will be played at Murgon Sportsground on Saturday after both South Burnett teams enjoyed victories last weekend.

Murgon Crusaders and Wooroolin Warriors were both in action in Gympie.

Crusaders (9/165) defeated Harlequins (80 all out) by 85 runs in a strong display at Jack Ison Oval.

Harlequins won the toss and sent Murgon into bat.

Ashley Sippel (45 not out), Brenton Polzin (39) and opener Zac Dann (23) kept the scoreboard ticking over for Crusaders.

Thomas Currin (4/13 off five overs), Jamian Currin (3/27 off five) and Jake Sippel (3/11 off 4.5) dominated the Harlequin batters.

At Kominsky Oval, Wooroolin Warriors (5/173) defeated Gympie Colts (8/169) by five wickets.

Colts won the toss and batted first.

Kyron Tunstall (4/23 off eight), Fletcher Brown (2/16 off four) and Tyler Heness (2/42 off eight) were the best of Warriors’ bowlers.

In reply, opener Hayden Wieck got Wooroolin off to a strong start, hitting 70 runs in 69 minutes, including nine 4s and four 5s.

Luke Smith (28 not out) and Matthew Springate (17 not out) added more valuable runs.

The wins by the two South Burnett teams have set up the Grand Final local derby which will be played this Saturday at Murgon.

SB Senior Results

Services’ opener Justin Labinsky was bowled by Patrick Figg for 42 runs
  • Kingaroy Services Orange (267 all out) def. Wooroolin Warriors (8/239) by 28 runs at Taabinga State School.

Kingaroy won the toss and batted first.

Ryan Jacobs (143) and Justin Labinsky (42) did most of the work for Kingaroy.

Jacobs hit an amazing 10 fours and 13 sixes on the small Taabinga State School Oval.

Jackson Kerkow (3/32 off eight) and John Schultz (2/59 off 7.3) were the best of the Warriors’ bowlers.

In reply, Warriors’ opener Brett Simpson (78) and Charlotte Love (37 not out) were the top scorers.

Ryan Jacobs (2/21 off eight) and Sam Scott (2/22 off eight) finished with the best bowling figures for Kingaroy.

  • Nanango Yellow (0/189) def. Nanango Purple (186 all out) by 10 wickets at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango.

Purple won the toss and batted first but were all out in the 37th over.

Lochlan Burrows – who hit 118 runs, including 18 boundaries – and Lawson Black (45) were the top scorers.

Nicholas Scherger (3/30 off eight) and David Houghton (2/18 off six) limited Purple’s attack.

In reply, Yellow overtook the target without losing any wickets.

Openers Michael Marriot (141 not out) and Joseph Steinhardt (41 not out) dominated Purple’s bowlers.

  • Wondai (6/274) def. Kingaroy Services Blue (133 all out) by 141 runs at Wondai Cricket Ground.

Wondai won the toss and batted first.

David Warner (74 not out) and Lyndon Hopkins (64) were the top scorers.

Clinton Blanch (3/53 off seven) and Josh Fearby (1/33 off eight) finished with the best bowling figures for Kingaroy.

In reply, Luke Peters (35) and Josh Fearby (22) top-scored for Kingaroy.

Wondai’s Kimberley Barrett (2/12 off three) and Ryder Brown (2/3 off three) were the best bowlers.

  • Tingoora Vikings (5/193) def. Murgon (147 allout) by 48 runs at Murgon Sportsground.

Vikings won the toss and batted first.

At the end of their 40 overs, Tavis Hartwig (55 not out ) and Keegan Wright (45 not out) were the top scorers.

Dylan Kapernick took 1/18 off three overs for Murgon.

In reply, Murgon were all out in the 35th over.

Jaden Heness (19) and Adam Kratzmann (16) had the highest totals.

Jason Reilly (3/33 off eight) and Scott Butters (2/16 off 5.4) had the best bowling figures for Vikings.

The SBCA 40 over competition will resume on January 21.

NB. The South Burnett Senior T20 competition was due to start this weekend but because of the ongoing wet conditions, the SBCA committee has decided to cancel the first two rounds which were to be played this weekend in Wondai and Murgon.
