Josh Fearby sends the ball to the boundary … Josh hit four 4s and one 6 on his way to his half-century for Kingaroy

A half-century by young batter Josh Fearby wasn’t enough to save Kingaroy Services Blue from defeat in their clash with Wooroolin at Taabinga State School last Saturday.

Warriors (9/124) defeated Services (123 all out) by one wicket in their South Burnett Seniors cricket match.

Wooroolin won the toss and sent Services in to bat.

Josh Fearby made 51 before being run out after some nifty fielding by Noah Birch and Hayden Donohue.

Glenn Kelly (16) and Fletcher Black (15) added some valuable runs.

John Schultz (3/24 off five overs) and Stewart Lavaring (2/16 off five) were Warriors’ best bowlers.

In reply, Warriors held on to pass the target in the 36th over.

Patrick Figg (31) and Lucas Kerkow (20) top-scored.

Tim Blanch (4/44 off eight) and Fletcher Black (3/22 off eight) were Services’ best bowlers.

  • Nanango Purple (8/196) defeated Wondai (96 all out) by 100 runs at Alan Downie Sports Fields in Nanango.

Nanango won the toss and batted first.

Lochlan Burrows (56), Lachlan Cullen (31), Thomas Town (30) and Lawson Black (28) all scored well.

Lachlan Moore (3/34 off five) and Torren Anderton (2/26 off seven) finished with the best bowling figures for Wondai.

In reply, Wondai were all out in the 15th over despite the efforts of Torren Anderton (37) and Joe Steinhardt (38).

Lawson Black took 5/26 off 3.5 overs, while Oscar Dioth was 2/1 off two.

  • Murgon (8/289) defeated Kingaroy Services Orange (69 all out) by 220 runs at Murgon Sportsground

Murgon won the toss and batted first.

Openers Adam Kratzmann (101) and Byron Kratzmann (93) set the pace.

JohnPaul Stephens (2/6 off one) and Sam Scott (2/50 off eight) were the best of the Kingaroy bowlers.

In reply, Services Orange were all out in the 15th over.

Opener Ryan Jacobs top-scored with 42 not out, running out of partners.

Renee Irvine (6/22 off 7.4) and Jack Webber (2/25 off 4.3) did the damage for Murgon.

Jack Hourn in action for Wooroolin Warriors on Saturday at Lyle Vidler Oval
  • Gympie Harlequins (176 all out) def. Wooroolin Warriors (60 all out) by 116 runs at Lyle Vidler Oval.

Harlequins won the toss and batted first and were all out in the 38th over.

Jack Hourn (3/27 off seven) and Matthew Springate (2/23 off five) finished with Warriors’ best bowling figures.

In reply, Warriors were all out in the 19th over after Harlequins’ bowler Noah Albion (6/26 off eight, including three maidens) tore through the line-up.

Matthew Dugdell hit 27 off 28 balls to top score for Wooroolin.

  • Gympie Colts (5/68) defeated Murgon Crusaders (66 all out) by five wickets at Murgon Sportsground.

Murgon won the toss and batted first but were all out in the 23rd over, with many of their regulars falling cheaply.

Damien Sippel (16) and Joe Meikle (12) were the top scorers.

In reply, Colts overtook the target in the 23rd over.

Nicholas Sanewski (2/8 off five) and Riley Sippel (2/29 off eight) worked hard for Murgon.

Junior Representative

Round 3 of the Wide Bay Intercity Challenge was played at Murgon Sportsground on Sunday.

South Burnett teams took on Bundaberg in Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 16s but it wasn’t the day for the home teams.

  • In Under 12s, Bundaberg (233 all out) def. South Burnett (102 all out) by 121 runs.

Joe Carney (26), Darcy Harmsworth (21) and Jeramiah Litzow (19) top scored for South Burnett, while Joe Carney (2/9), Mason Fuller-Sandys (2/25) and Hudson Murphy (2/17) were the pick of the SB bowlers.

  • In Under U14s, Bundaberg (247 all out) def. South Burnett (8/238) by just nine runs.

Byron Kratzmann (94), Josh Williams (41) and Hayden Donohue (14) top scored for South Burnett, while Kratzmann (2/50), Jayden Prendergast (2/30) and Josie Black (1/17) were the best bowlers.

  • In Under 16s, Bundaberg (108 all out) def. South Burnett (89 all out) by 19 runs.

James Whiteman (29) and Lachlan Cullen (19) top-scored while Cullen (2/19), Josh Fearby (2/12) and Noah Birch (2/10) were best with the ball.
