A cropduster pilot died on Monday afternoon when his plane crashed into a paddock near Chinchilla-Wondai Road, northwest of Jandowae.

Emergency services were called to the incident, near T Atkins Road at Canaga, at 12:33pm.

A police spokesperson said the pilot was believed to be a man aged in his 30s.

He was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

Initial inquiries indicate the plane lost altitude and crashed about 12:20pm while crop dusting.

The QPS Forensic Crash Unit, working alongside the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, will prepare a report for the Coroner.
