The small community committee that has been organising the annual Christmas Day Community lunch in Kingaroy has put out an appeal for help.
The lunch – which was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic – has a shortage of volunteers, especially those willing to give up their time on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
“The current committee cannot do it on their own,” a spokesperson said.
“Are there any volunteers out there who could commit to being there on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Otherwise, the event will have to be cancelled again.”
The lunch is auspiced by the Salvation Army but most of the volunteers come from community groups, which have also been suffering a decline in volunteers.
