Prices continued to fall in all descriptions for the 700 yarded in Murgon on Tuesday at the latest SBLX Fat and Store Sale.

Young cattle saw the biggest reduction in rates, but feeder types and processing cattle also sold to reduced values.

These local trends were in line with all other selling centres.

Cattle for Tuesday’s sale were drawn from Monto, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Boondooma, Kingaroy, Yarraman, Nanango, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Heavy bulls sold to $3.16/kg and $2488
  • A small number of bullocks topped at $4.00/kg and $2361
  • Cows over 500kg topped at $3.03/kg and $2594
  • Cows 400-500kg sold to $3.14/kg for $1313
  • Cows under 400kg topped at $2.60/kg and $916
  • Export heifers sold to $3.45/kg and $1970
  • Droughtmaster cross steers from Byee sold for $2245 at $4.58/kg
  • Santa cross steers weighing 290kg from Redgate sold for $1478 at $5.08/kg
  • 272kg steers ex Moffatdale sold for $5.16/kg and $1406
  • Two pens of Simmental cross weaners from Cinnabar sold for $5.16/kg to return $1207 and $1107
  • Light Santa weaner steers from Elgin Vale sold for $5.10/kg and $896
  • Local 420kg Charbray heifers sold for $4.38/kg, returning $1847
  • 365kg Droughtmaster heifers from Goomeri sold for $1540 at $4.22/kg
  • 390kg Santa heifers ex Wooronden sold for $1654 at $4.24/kg
  • 297kg Angus cross heifers sold for $4.00/kg and $1134
  • Local Murray Grey cross heifers sold for $4.00/kg and $993
  • 197kg Speckle Park heifers made $5.00/kg, returning $985
  • Cows and Calves sold to $2310
  • PTIC cows topped at $1820
