The South Burnett Thrashers are currently sitting in second spot on the C Grade ladder

The South Burnett Thrashers are accelerating towards the finals of the Darling Downs Rugby Union competition with just two more fixture games left to play.

The team is sitting in second place on the ladder behind Dalby, with whom they will be going toe-to-toe with this Saturday in Dalby.

The top-of-the-table clash at Dalby’s home ground is likely to be a tough spectacle but the Thrashers should be rested after having a week off due to a forfeit last Saturday by the Toowoomba Bears.

“At this point in the season we are unable to catch Dalby and get into first place so our focus will be on staying in second position,” club president Jamie Shirlaw said.

“The final round of the competition sees us play Gundy in Toowoomba.

“We will need to win both games to secure second place and have an easier run to the Grand Final.”
