Families affected by the floods in the Burnett earlier this year have been getting a helping hand thanks to BIEDO and two generous Kingaroy flower growers.

Earlier this year, Tina and Michael Torrens offered a crop of proteas to be sold at a pop-up shop in Kingaroy Shoppingworld to raise funds for flood victims.

A total of about $3000 was raised, which BIEDO is now distributing.

“The money BIEDO raised in collaboration with Tina and Michael and those who supported the pop-up protea shop is right now helping farming families who are still recovering from multiple disaster events,” BIEDO general manager Kristy Board said.

“In true South Burnett spirit, this fundraiser was an example of how a farmer who was also suffering from the impact of the floods, turned his misfortune and hardship into a fundraiser for others.”

Kristy said Burnett families who had been affected by the floods and required assistance should contact BIEDO on 0400-695-456 or by email
