The badly damaged windscreen of the vehicle which allegedly struck the two girls

Two teenage girls were transported to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition after being struck by a vehicle in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, on Thursday afternoon.

It is believed the girls were crossing the road when the incident occurred.

A QAS spokesperson said one of the girls suffered a suspected head injury while the second had a suspected hip injury.

Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Alford Street just after 4:30pm.

Through traffic on Youngman Street was blocked as paramedics treated the two girls on the roadway.

Police questioned the driver of a damaged Commodore sedan parked nearby and later drove him from the scene.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

  1. The intersection needs arrows for both left and right turns. If the Commodore had a red arrow that stayed red while the pedestrians were crossing I believe the accident wouldn’t have happened. I’m the father of one of the girls involved.
