The South Burnett Thrashers’ planned trip to Goondiwindi at the weekend was called off at the last minute due to COVID issues.

The next game for the South Burnett rugby union side is scheduled for June 18 at USQ Oval in Toowoomba against Rangers as there is a bye for all teams this weekend.

However, the Thrashers are planning a big day of rugby union action at their home game in Kingaroy next month.

On July 9, an Old Boys game – South Burnett Bashers v West Brisbane Bullfrogs – will be played as a curtain raiser for the main match against the Chinchilla River Rats.

After the games, a rugby dinner will be held at the Kingaroy Hotel with guest speakers and an auction of autographed jerseys.

Football South Burnett’s rain-interrupted soccer season continued at the weekend.

The junior U12/13s and Cadets games, which had been scheduled to be played in Dalby, were cancelled as the fields were waterlogged after rain.

And no senior games were played in Kingaroy again due to the state of the fields.

However, the junior mini-Roos games – U6s to U10/11s – went ahead as scheduled at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Nanango.

This was the first of the six weeks that Nanango will be hosting the junior soccer.
