Blake Jacobson kicked two goals for the South Burnett Saints in their clash against the Dalby Swans at Lyle Vidler Oval on Saturday.
Jeremy Zaccardi also added a six-pointer to the total in the team’s best result so far in the 2022 competition.
But the Swans still proved too strong for the home team, ahead 11.15-81 to 3.3-21 at full-time.
Earlier in the day, the Saints women also took on the visiting Swans women.
Dalby also took this one out, 7.3-45 to 1.6-12.
Kiara Wright, who has been selected in the Women’s Southern Queensland representative squad, kicked the Saints’ sole goal.
It will be a tough weekend for the South Burnett men next weekend.
The Saints are scheduled to play ladder leaders – and undefeated – Coolaroo in Toowoomba.
Saints’ women have a bye. They will next be action against Toowoomba Tigers at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on June 18.
This will also be the Saints’ annual Heritage Round and it will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the return of South Burnett players to the Darling Downs competition.
