The South Burnett Eagles will be hosting the next Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry meet’n’greet – and there will be a very special guest for local businesspeople to meet!

League legend Johnathan Thurston –  who is bringing his JT Academy to the region – will be the guest speaker.

The KCCI meet’n’greet will be held at the Kingaroy Red Ants clubhouse at T.J. O’Neill Oval from 5:15pm on Monday, May 23.

The Eagles will be having a barbecue and cash bar, and there will be raffles on the night.

The evening is a fundraiser for the South Burnett Eagles, which has both men’s and women’s junior rugby league teams.

Cost is $10 for KCCI members or $15 for non-members.

RSVP before Friday, May 20, to info@kcci.asn.au

If you’re not a local businessperson, don’t despair … there will be an opportunity the following night for the rest of the public to meet Thurston.

He will be at the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt from 4:00pm to 7:30pm on Tuesday, May 24.

Thurston is bringing his JT Academy –  an initiative funded by the State Government – to the South Burnett to have a “big conversation” with schoolchildren with the aim of instilling confidence, courage and self-belief in them.

But he is also headlining a community event where everyone can turn up to see him and have a great night out.

There will be live music with local band Misfitz, a barbecue put on by the Kingaroy Rotary Club, displays, raffles and giveaways, including signed merchandise.

Free buses will be running from Blackbutt, Yarraman, Nanango, Murgon, Wondai, Tingoora, Wooroolin, Memerambi, Proston and Hivesville to attend this community event. They can be booked by calling (07) 4168-1533.

Thurston will also be at the Murgon Men’s Shed in Macalister Street for a sausage sizzle at noon on Tuesday, May 24.
