An elderly woman was taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition after a collision between two small hatchbacks in Kingaroy on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Youngman and Avoca streets about 9:50am.

A police spokesperson said a 92-year-old Wondai woman suffered a deep wound to her leg and was transported from the scene by the QAS.

Both vehicles – a Toyota and a Hyundai – were extensively damaged in the incident.

Police will allege the Toyota turned right from Avoca Street into Youngman Street, into the path of the Hyundai.

The driver of the Toyota, an 82-year-old Kingaroy woman, was assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.

She was issued with a ticket for failing to give way.
