A 57-year-old Durong woman has been charged after an allegedly stolen Hitachi tracked loader was found by a police in a paddock on Mundubbera-Durong Road at Durong.

About 12:55pm on February 17, police executed a search warrant on a Durong address in relation to suspected stolen property.

They located the loader in a neighbouring paddock.

The woman has been charged with stealing a vehicle and receiving tainted property. She is due to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 17.

Murgon police are investigating the alleged theft of 18 Charbray cows and calves from a property on Slacks Road, Boondooma, at some time between September 15, 2021, and February 12.

Property

Murgon police are investigating a number of alleged thefts:

  • About 1:30pm on February 15, a set of Toyota Prado keys was stolen from an unlocked drawer in a classroom at a Murgon school.
  • About 11:55pm on February 17, a Mazda BT50 utility parked at an address in Caswell Street, Murgon, was entered by two thieves who stole a set of spare vehicle keys from the vehicle. They were disturbed by the owner and left. About 9:40pm on February 20, would-be thieves returned and tried to use the stolen vehicle keys to steal the Mazda but were unable to due to a club lock on the steering wheel.
  • Between 1:30pm and 2:30pm on February 18, a person lost a bank card somewhere between Murgon and Goomeri. Within a few hours, there were 10 unauthorised transactions on the card.
  • About 3:15pm on February 25, police stopped and searched a vehicle in Edwards Street, Wondai and allegedly located a stolen laptop.

Traffic

  • A 19-year-old Proston man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 29 charged with drink-driving (0.071 BAC) after police stopped a vehicle in Webb Street, Hivesville, about 12:30am on February 19.
  • An 18-year-old Cherbourg man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on April 12 charged with drug-driving after police stopped a vehicle on the Bunya Highway in Murgon about 3:30pm on February 20.
  • About 4:12am on February 20, police stopped a vehicle on Wondai Road at Cherbourg for a roadside breath test. The driver allegedly provided a positive reading of 0.074 BAC. The driver was then told by police that he was detained for a further test, however he allegedly turned the vehicle ignition on and drove off. Investigations are continuing.
  • A 56-year-old Wondai man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on April 12 charged with unlicensed driving after police intercepted a vehicle on Greenview Road, Wondai, about 6:05pm on February 26.

Drugs

  • A 23-year-old Wondai man has been charged with drug possession and will appear at the Murgon Magistrates Court on March 29 after police stopped and searched a vehicle in Cadell Street, Wondai, about 10:45am on February 21. Police allegedly located a quantity of cannabis in the vehicle.
  • About 10:30am on February 22,  police searched a home in Cadell Street, Wondai. They allegedly located cannabis and drug utensils. A 31-year-old Wondai woman and a 19-year-old Wondai woman were offered drug diversion. A 23-year-old Wondai man was charged with possessing a drug utensil; a 44-year-old Wondai woman was charged with possessing drugs and a drug utensil. They will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 29.
  • About 12:20pm on February 24, police executed a search warrant in Jefferies Street, Murgon. It is alleged that cannabis and drug utensils were located during the search. A 38-year-old Murgon woman has been charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils. She will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 29.
