Rural firies from the South Burnett have answered the call to pitch in to help clean up Gympie after the recent flood disaster.

Two volunteers from the Bunya Mountains rural fire brigade – Peter Marshall and Peter Taylor – had an early start on Monday to join a convoy leaving Murgon to assist.

They took with them a brigade vehicle and equipment to help with the clean-up.

The pair will be away until Friday.

Other local units taking part include McEuen, East Nanango, Stuart River, Tablelands and Taromeo.
