It’s been confirmed: the South Burnett Thrashers rugby union team will be back on the paddock this season.

And they will be playing in their old “home”, the Darling Downs competition where they last played in 2014.

When talk began last year about the Thrashers reforming, it had been predicted they might join a Sunshine Coast competition.

But spokesperson Jamie Shirlaw said after a lot of negotiations it had been confirmed the Thrashers would join the Darling Downs C Grade competition.

Their first game is scheduled for April 9.

In the meantime, the Thrashers’ squad is training hard at Wondai Sportsground on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons to get ready for the season.

Jamie said there was still time for players to join the Thrashers if they were interested in playing this year.

He believed some people may have held back until it was confirmed that the team had been accepted into a competition.

Anyone who is interested should contact the Thrashers via their Facebook page
