Police are investigating recent break-ins and thefts which have occurred in the Goomeri, Kilkivan and Widgee areas.

A burglary was reported in Upper Widgee Road, Widgee, between January 28-31.

The thieves climbed through a window and stole various items.

Between February 9-10, thieves broke into a property in Hodge Street, Goomeri, located keys to two vehicles and then stole them.

The vehicles have since been located.

A break-and-enter was reported in Bligh Street, Kilkivan, between February 9-10. The would-be thieves smashed a front glass door but did not gain access to the premises.

Investigations are continuing.

Gympie police have urged residents in the Goomeri, Kilkivan and Widgee areas to always secure their vehicles, homes and businesses to help deter opportunistic criminals.

They should also review their home and business security measures, lock and secure vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.
