South Burnett junior cricketers will be back in action this Saturday after the Christmas holidays but senior players will be taking a break after their hectic T20 series wrapped up last Saturday.

After seven rounds of games, the South Burnett Senior T20 final at Murgon Sportsground was a showdown between the home team and Kingaroy Services.

Murgon won the toss and sent Kingaroy in.

At the end of their 20 overs, Services were 7/71 with Trevor Black (16 not out), Luke Peters (15) and JohnPaul Stephens (15) top-scoring.

Riley Sippel (3/5) and Jack Webber (1/3) did the damage for Murgon.

In reply, Murgon overtook the target in the 10th over, finishing 4/72.

Opener – and recent Australia Day Award winner – Lachlan Zelinski was not out 48.

Joshua Unverzagt took 2/21 for Services and Fletcher Black 1/6.

The South Burnett Senior competition will resume on February 5.

Under 17s

The three-round South Burnett Under 17s competition between North and South will be played under lights at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, beginning on Friday, February 4.

Round 2 will be on February 18 and Round 3 on March 4.

All games will start at 6:00pm.

Goodchild Shield

On January 16, the South Burnett senior rep side played its Round 3 game in the prestigious Goodchild Shield competition at Maryborough.

Despite Fraser Coast (all out 151) defeating the visitors by 25 runs, South Burnett finished on top of the table in the regional competition.

South Burnett will now host Bundaberg in the final in February.

  • Wooroolin Warriors def. Gympie Royals outright
  • Murgon (all out 128) v Harlequins (4/28) – Day 2 will be played at Murgon on Saturday

  • Murgon (1/35) def. Wooroolin Vikings (all out 31) by nine wickets
