January 27, 2022

The Linville Progress Association was presented with the Community Group of the Year Award at Wednesday’s Somerset Regional Council Australia Day awards.

Their citation read:

The Linville Progress Association has created a strong position for itself in the Somerset region. In less than two years, it has built a successful neighbourhood socialisation program for the residents of the small town (population 164). Linville Hall has been the site of several events, including the new Linville Heritage Festival and the official launch of a Community Garden, which included a major concert event. A strong group of volunteers supports the committee, and all their work is supported by a regular review of their vision and business strategy for the continued development of their community.

The Progress Association was up against some strong competition.

Also nominated for the award were the Yowie parkrun, Esk CWA, Esk Community Op Shop, Kilcoy District Tennis Association and the Brisbane Valley – Kilcoy Landcare Association.
