Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has congratulated members of the Kilkivan Veteran’s and Community Men’s Shed for their perseverance and determination with the long-awaited opening of their new facility this week.

Mrs Frecklington said it had been a long journey for the members who have been patiently waiting to start welcoming members to the shed.

“It is wonderful news that the group’s goal has finally come to fruition and the members can at last start using their shed,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“The shed has been fully completed and ready to open since April this year but serious delays due to red tape and administrative hold-ups has meant they couldn’t open their doors.

“I’ve been pleased to advocate for the group over the past nine months in their efforts to get the shed open.

“This is a unique facility that will support local men, as well as ex-servicemen and women in the community.

“I am a strong supporter of the Men’s Shed initiative and the benefits provided to the community, especially in smaller regional townships like Kilkivan.

“I wish the group the greatest success and many happy and constructive times in their new shed.”
