Murgon’s water supply has been affected by recent flash flooding in Barambah Creek.

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said the water in Barambah Creek at Murgon Weir currently had very high turbidity.

As the Murgon water supply scheme draws water from Murgon Weir, some residents are experiencing discoloured water.

The Council spokesperson said the intermittent discolouring might last for the next two days or longer if further wet weather and flooding events occur.

“Disinfection continues to ensure water remains safe for residents,” the spokesperson said.

“The impact of this interruption means the treatment process of the water is not currently operating at full capacity. Residents are urged to reduce water consumption where possible.

“Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience during this time.”
