A 24-year-old woman has been charged following a fatal crash which killed a 22-year-old Murgon woman at Cushnie in January.

Police will allege the woman, who now lives at Springfield, failed to gave way to an oncoming vehicle on Chinchilla-Wondai Road.

The ensuing crash resulted in the death of one of the woman’s passengers and serious injuries to another.

The Springfield woman has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on November 30.

Emergency services were called to the incident near the intersection of Cushnie Road at 11:50am on January 15.

The woman who died was the front passenger of a hatchback involved in the collision.

The driver of the hatchback and another passenger, a 22-year-old Surfers Paradise man, were treated by QAS paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A 24-year-old Nikenbah woman – the driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle, a dual cab – was taken to Kingaroy Hospital for observation.
