An information session will be held in Wondai next week to advise local growers about farm labour needs and best industry practice.

The event has been organised by horticulture industry association Growcom in conjunction with labour hire company MADEC.

The information session will discuss current initiatives available to horticulture growers:

  • Harvest Trail Services connects employers with workers in harvesting areas across Australia by providing all-year-round harvest trail services to meet seasonal labour market needs. Harvest Trail Services supplies labour to major harvest areas seeking large or small numbers of harvest workers to supplement local labour supply.
  • The Seasonal Workers Program offers employers in the agriculture sector and employers in selected locations in the accommodation sector access to a reliable, returning workforce when there is not enough local Australian labour to meet seasonal demand.
  • Fair Farms is an industry-led initiative aimed at fostering fair and responsible employment practices in Australian horticulture.

The Wondai information session will held from 10:00am-11:30am on Tuesday, November 23, at Wondai Memorial Hall.
