Blue skies, green grass and red dirt! That’s how the organisers of last weekend’s big motocross weekend in Kingaroy described the track ahead of the start of racing on Saturday morning.

The third round of the 2021 Gasgas Maxxis SEQJMX series lived up to expectations with hundreds of junior riders turning up at the South Burnett Junior MX club track on Saturday and Sunday to compete in classes ranging from Mini Lites through to Pro and Expert Classes.

Many camped at the track overnight.

There was action aplenty and unfortunately a few spills – some more serious than others – but that did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the young riders.

Saturday’s events were filled with juniors, including many South Burnett racers.

Local riders Joshua Searle and Nate Perrett starred in the 9-U12s events.

On Sunday, more experienced riders hit the track.

Top Australian riders Dean Ferris and Aaron Tanti shared the honours in the National Luna MX1 A/B with Ferris taking out Round 1 ahead of Tanti, and the roles reversed in Round 2.
