A Toyota sedan stolen from Murgon on Monday has not yet been located by police.

A police spokesperson said a thief stole a handbag, wallet and car keys from a house in Cooper Street, Murgon, on October 11.

The offender opened an unlocked screen door to enter the house.

The thief than stole the victim’s vehicle, a 2012 blue Toyota Camry, registration 924-TUB.

The spokesperson said the vehicle was still outstanding and investigations were continuing.

“Police are seeking assistance from the community for any information regarding the offence or the location of the stolen vehicle,” the spokesperson said.

“Murgon Police would like to remind homeowners to ensure their house and property is secured.

“Many recent offences have involved unlocked or unsecured doors and windows that the offender has taken advantage of, which is why we are urging people to make sure their properties are secure.

“By ensuring doors and windows are locked, even when you’re at home, and by keeping sought after items such as phones, jewellery, wallets and cameras out of sight, each member of the community can reduce their risk of being a victim of this offence.”
