Rugby league is not quite over, but cricket is back!

Murgon Crusaders will be taking on Wooroolin Warriors in a 40-over game this Saturday (September 11) at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

This is Round 1 of the Gympie Cricket Association competition.

The 2021-22 Gympie competition will also include a T20 Cup and Two-Day Shield competitions.

Last season, Murgon Crusaders took out all three crowns.

The South Burnett Senior competition will get under way in early October with extra teams getting ready to take to the pitch.

The draw is yet to be finalised, but at the moment there will be teams from Nanango, Murgon, Kumbia, Wondai, Cherbourg, Kingaroy and two Wooroolin teams – the Colts and Vikings.

The junior competition will consist of Stage 2 (Under 12s) and Stage 3 (Under 15s).

UPDATE: The South Burnett Senior Cricket competition will start on October 2, and the Junior competition on October 9.
