Applications are now open for the 2022 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Awards.

Agriculture Minister Mark Furner said the 2022 Awards would feature an even larger bursary from Westpac of $15,000 for the top award winner.

“The Rural Women’s Award empowers and celebrates women involved in Australia’s rural and emerging industries, businesses, and communities,” Mr Furner said.

“Through the Awards program, women are supported in using and further developing their skills in our regions and communities.

“It can help to secure funding for an existing project, business or program which is up and running within three months of submitting your application.

“Location is no barrier—if you want to create impact, innovate and contribute to enhancing the prosperity of rural and regional Australia, then this is your chance.

“Queensland’s agricultural sector thrives under the guidance of skilled rural leaders who are innovative, resilient and grow the industry for a better future.”

Applications for the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award opened on Thursday (August 16) and will close on October 8.

The 2022 awards have a $15,000 bursary for the Queensland winner, who will also be considered for the national award to win an additional $20,000 bursary.

There is also a $15,000 bursary for the national runner up.

The bursary can be used to support a project, business or program that will benefit rural industries, businesses and/or communities.

Peta Ward, Westpac’s Regional General Manager (QLD), said the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award was an outstanding platform that encourages others to continue to pave the way for diversity across industries and for women to further develop their personal business journey.
