Members of the Wondai and District Garden Club met in the Wondai RSL Meeting Room on August 13 for the group’s 2021 Annual General Meeting.

Following morning tea, President Norm Andresen took the chair and welcomed all in attendance.

In his President’s Report, he thanked Secretary Denise Steinhardt and Treasurer Noela Ardrey for their work during the year, as well as all members who attended meetings and helped to make Club Days such an enjoyable morning whenever they were held.

Office bearers for the coming year will be patron Roy Radunz, president Norm Andresen, secretary Denise Steinhardt and treasurer Noela Ardrey.

Positions for Expo hospitality catering, a Bus Trip co-ordinator, Show stewards, auditor and publicity officer were also filled.

During general business, plans for the upcoming Wondai Spring Garden Expo were discussed.

Members will cater for the volunteers for morning tea and lunch on Friday, and run the Horticulture and Photography Show as well as running raffles and a gardening books stall.

A bus trip to the Gympie Open Gardens day was also discussed and will run on Saturday, September 11.

All interested people – club members or not – are invited to attend.

The club will also support the Proston Lions’ Garden Fete in Proston on October 3 with a stall.

Winners of the table competitions were Noela Ardrey and Helen Young (gerberas), Helen Young (daisies and geranium) and Del Blanch (cauliflower).

The club’s next meeting will be held at Helen and Noel Young’s garden in Proston on Friday, September 10.

At this meeting, Helen can do a pH soil test for anyone interested, but a small garden soil sample will be required.
