Somerset Regional Council has commissioned new flood studies for the townships of Linville and Moore, and has invited local residents to attend a public meeting to share their views.

The studies are being run in partnership with the Federal and State governments and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority,

“These new local town flood studies will improve our understanding of floods in Linville and Moore, particularly with the increasing development interest and property sales in these two towns,” Local Disaster Management Committee chair Mayor Graeme Lehmann said.

“I invite the community to attend Linville Hall on August 30 between 4:00pm and 6:00m to find out more about the new flood studies and to provide input into the studies.

“We will have technical people available on the day to discuss the flood studies and new mapping.”

“If you can’t make it along on the day, the flood study maps will also be available on Council’s website until September 6 and you can email Council with queries and comments about the studies.

“A lot of work has gone into these flood studies over many months.”

“I really encourage Moore and Linville residents to get involved with something that will affect the development of their local area.”
