There are defibrillators mounted on walls across the South Burnett … but have they been registered with QAS?

August 10, 2021

Does your business or sports club have an AED – an automated external defibrillator – mounted somewhere on a wall?

Good on you, you could save a life some day … but have you registered it?

Kingaroy Rotary’s Ray Pitt – who has been co-ordinating the club’s rollout of the life-saving devices around the region – said Rotary members had been coming across AEDs installed in some locations which had surprised them.

And checking later, they discovered the devices had not been registered with the Queensland Ambulance Service.

Ray said registering an AED location with the QAS could be the difference between life and death in an emergency.

He said a caller to Triple 0 could be directed to a nearby AED if it was registered.

“We really need to get this information out there,” he said.

  • Automated external defibrillators can be registered with the QAS online
