A man was flown to Kingaroy Hospital with a suspected head injury after his ute and a cattle truck collided near Darr Creek, west of Durong, on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the incident about 8:30am on Chinchilla-Wondai Road.

Paramedics assessed three people at the scene.

The driver of the ute, a man in his 40s, was airlifted in a stable condition to Kingaroy Hospital.

A police spokesperson said investigations were continuing but it appeared the prime mover, which was pulling a cattle trailer, was turning left when the incident occurred.

Both vehicles were heading west before the collision.

The crash blocked traffic on the road for several hours.
