Firefighters who were called to a house fire at Woolooga on Thursday afternoon could see the smoke from a distance as they sped towards the blaze.

A QFES spokesperson said the brick, single-story structure in Staples Road was well-engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived about 1:20pm.

Seven crews – including rural and urban units – were called to the incident.

The fire was extinguished about 2:00pm, but fire crews remained at the scene dampening down hotspots.

QAS paramedics were on standby but a police spokesperson confirmed all occupants of the house had been accounted for.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
