A young boy severely burned in an incident on a property near Goomeri on July 8 has died in hospital.

Xavier Webb, 9, died on Monday.

The Goomeri State School student had been flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical but stable condition by the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter.

He reportedly suffered critical burns to about 60 per cent of his body and was placed in an induced coma in hospital.

Ambulance paramedics initially treated the boy at the scene before taking him to Goomeri Showgrounds to rendezvous with the rescue helicopter.

A GoFundMe page set up to help the family had raised $2230 by Monday afternoon.

A family spokesperson told the media that funds would now go towards funeral costs.
