Due to good general rainfall over the weekend, yarding numbers were reduced to 600 at the fortnightly combined agents sale in Murgon on Tuesday.

The market for all descriptions was very strong, and feeder cattle were in very short supply.

Cows and heifers made up the 120 export cattle that were yarded.

Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Kingaroy, Yarraman, Kilkivan and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Bulls sold to $3.48/kg and $2880
  • Heavy steers topped at $3.30/kg for $2600
  • Heavy Cows over 500kg sold to $3.18/kg and $2275 for an average of $3.04, an increase of 15 cents on the last sale.
  • Cows 400-500kg sold to $3.19/kg, averaging $3.01/kg
  • Cows under 400kg topped at $2.94/kg
  • Export heifers topped at $3.40/kg and $2160
  • 545kg Simmental cross steers sold for $4.15/kg and $2260
  • 330kg Santa steers from Nanango sold for $1580 at $4.80/kg
  • Local Santa cross steers weighing 317kg sold for $4.76/kg, returning $1510
  • 380kg Santa steers sold for $1740 at $4.62/kg
  • Droughtmaster steers from Tansey sold for $4.67/kg to return $1430
  • Braford cross weaner steers from Mt Perry sold for $6.00/kg at $1700 and $1460
  • Charbray weaner steers also from Mt Perry sold for $1320 and $1280 at $5.85/kg
  • Simmental cross weaner steers sold for $1315 at $5.72/kg
  • Two pens of Droughtmaster and Charbray weaner steers from Manyung sold for $6.06/kg to return $1086 and $1007
  • Senepol weaner steers from Manumbar sold for $5.88/kg to return $1160
  • Most better quality weaner steers sold from $5.50 to $6.00 per kilo.
  • 445kg Charolais cross heifers from Dangore sold for $1850 at $4.15/kg
  • 410kg Brahman cross heifers sold for $4.14/kg at $1295
  • Charbray heifers weighing 400kg sold to $4.21/kg and $1685
  • Droughtmaster cross heifers from Dangore sold for $1690 at $4.15/kg
  • 312kg Braford cross heifers from Mt Perry sold for $1295 and $4.14/kg
  • Droughtmaster weaner heifers sold for $1150 at $5.20/kg
  • Santa cross heifers from Hivesville sold for $5.18/kg to return $1110
  • Local Gelbvieh cross weaner heifers sold to $4.82/kg for $1004
  • Angus cross weaner heifers from Yarraman sold for $4.74/kg and $1173
  • Light Charolais cross heifers sold for $5.58/kg and $857
  • Their Brahman sisters Sold for $881 at $5.38/kg
