Blackbutt’s Avocado Festival is calling for visual artists from across the South Burnett to participate in an exhibition of local artwork in Blackbutt businesses.

The Blackbutt Shopfront Art Trail project was awarded $4242 from the Federal Government’s Regional Arts Fund in May.

It will commission six local artists to create artwork to be displayed in Blackbutt CBD businesses.

“We are welcoming expressions of interest from both South Burnett-based artists and businesses in Blackbutt’s CBD,” arts project officer Olivia Everitt said.

“We are offering six selected artists an honorary fee of $500 each for the development of new work and material costs.”

Artists will be encouraged to think outside traditional exhibition techniques, with final artworks to be digitised, printed on adhesive vinyl decal and installed on glass shopfront windows and panels of participating businesses in September.

Expressions of interest close at 5:00pm Friday, July 9.
