A man has been charged with serious assault of a police officer after an alleged incident at the Kingaroy Watchhouse on Saturday morning.

The 35-year-old Teelah man allegedly bit a male officer on the finger.

The man allegedly became violent as he was being shifted to a different cell.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney said luckily the police officer’s skin was not broken as he was wearing gloves at the time.

The man was due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday.

A 24-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on July 19 charged with possessing drugs and drug utensils after police stopped a Holden sedan in Haly Street, Kingaroy, on Saturday afternoon.

A search of the occupants allegedly located a small amount of cannabis in the man’s underwear and scales in his jumper pocket.
