A Pursers Coaches driver has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a school bus crashed near Goomeri on Wednesday morning.

There were no children on board at the time.

The 22-seat bus is believed to have run off the road and hit a tree on Goomeribong Road.

Emergency services were called to the incident at 7:38am.

The driver was initially trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by rescuers.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted the man to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with chest and leg injuries.
