South Burnett Eagles notched up another strong win in the Toowoomba Rugby League U18s competition at the weekend.

The South Burnett side, which is now sitting in sixth spot on the ladder, downed Wattles Warriors 44-20 at Clifton on Sunday.

Eagles’ try scorers were Killian Klease (2), Lennox Bligh (2), Cody Gale (2), Lloyd Langton, Stafford Sandow and Lachlan Bligh.

Lloyd Langton kicked four goals.

The U18s competition is also providing a pathway for South Burnett players to take part in the senior Toowoomba competition.

Killian Klease, Aidan Cavanough and Lennox Bligh also made their debuts in the Newtown Lions senior grades on Sunday afternoon.

Under 15s and Under 17s girls from the South Burnett are also currently playing games with the Newtown Lions in the Toowoomba women’s junior competition.

But from next week, Under 13s will be playing with the Pittsworth Danes.

This Weekend’s Games

Kingaroy Red Ants will be hosting a full round of games from Under 6s through to Under 18s at T.J. O’Neill Oval on Saturday in memory of former Kingaroy player, Harmony Hall, who died last year.

To honour Harmony’s memory, the Hall family and the Kingaroy Red Ants are hosting a Youth Suicide Prevention Day.

There will be junior games, a canteen and fundraising for various mental health charities.

As well as the Under 6s to Under 12s games, there will be two Under 14s games; and the South Burnett Eagles will be in action against Valleys in Under 15s, Under 16s and Under 18s.

  • 10:30am – Under 14s – Murgon v Chinchilla
  • 11:35am – Under 15s – South Burnett v Valleys
  • 1:35pm – Under 16s – South Burnett v Valleys
  • 3:00pm – Under 18s – South Burnett v Valleys
  • 4:20pm – Under 14s – Kingaroy v Nanango

At Wondai Sportsground, the Wolves will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the clubhouse (a year late due to COVID).

Former Wolves will be returning for the day and there will be two A Grade games played: Cherbourg v Kingaroy and Wondai v Nanango.

  • Noon – Jersey presentation
  • 12:30pm – 3:00pm – Clubhouse function ($5 per person, bar, music, memorabilia)
  • 1:15pm – A Grade game – Cherbourg v Kingaroy
  • 3:00pm – A Grade game – Wondai v Nanango
  • 5:00pm – Clubhouse celebration
