Former Kingaroy State High School student Olivia Almond has notched up another award.

In March, she was awarded the Nanango Electorate’s 2020 Year 12 School Leaver’s Bursary, worth $1000, from a strong field of applicants.

Now, Olivia has been awarded a Merit Certificate in the State Government’s TJ Ryan Memorial awards.

Each Queensland secondary school can submit only one nominee for the prestigious awards, which are a memorial to Thomas Joseph Ryan – a former teacher, barrister and Queensland Premier (1915-19).

The awards are provided to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to high academic achievement and outstanding leadership in both their school and the local community.

Olivia is studying to become an optometrist and has begun her three-year Bachelor of Vision Science at QUT.
