FLASHBACK: Earthmoving equipment clearing the edges of the Bunya Highway, north of Tingoora, as part of a major road upgrade in October last year

May 5, 2021

South Burnett motorists despairing that repairs to the Tingoora-to-Wondai section of the Bunya Highway have been completed can relax … the workers are coming back!

Work to widen a 1.94k section of the highway, clear vegetation, repair the shoulders and improve drainage began in October last year.

But then Roadtek crews disappeared from the work site about two months ago, leaving local residents wondering if anything was going to be done about the humps and bumps on the highway that remained.

However, a Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson has confirmed the Roadtek crews are returning.

In an answer to a query from the Nanango Electorate Office, the spokesperson said the crews had left the site to complete Federal safety package works which have a June 2021 deadline.

Roadtek is scheduled to return in July to complete pavement strengthening and overlay works, with work expected to be finished in September, conditions permitting.
