Wondai Regional Art Gallery has blossomed into colour for the annual art competition held in conjunction with the Wondai Autumn Garden Expo.

Wondai Garden Expo Inc and the Gallery donated the prize monies, which were distributed to competition winners at the official opening last Thursday night.

The competition, “A Garden Theme”, invited entries in any medium from both adults and children.

They were judged by Kingaroy Arts Team member, Maureen Meggitt-Lorne.

Graham Mitchell, from Dimities Cottage in Wondai, opened the exhibition, presented the prizes and did a star turn on the gallery’s piano as well!

Graham is an accomplished musician as well as an artist in his own right.

Gallery curator Elaine Madill said about 40 people turned up for the opening night, which was a good size given the current restrictions.

Wine was served by Judy and Bernie Cooper, from Crane Wines.

“It really was a lovely evening,” Elaine said.

“This is always my favourite exhibition as the gallery looks beautiful filled with flowers.”

The Wondai Autumn Garden Expo will be held on April 17-18 at the Wondai Sportsground and Lions Pavilion on the Bunya Highway.

The “A Garden Theme” exhibition will be on display for the rest of the month at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery. Entry is free.
