An elderly woman was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition with burns after a vehicle fire on the Blackbutt Range on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called at 2:13pm after a 4WD towing a box trailer caught fire on the D’Aguilar Highway, about 10km east of Blackbutt.

QAS paramedics assessed three elderly patients at the scene.

The QGAir Rescue 500 helicopter, which landed nearby, flew the woman to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

She suffered burns to her face, arms and legs.

A QAS spokesperson said an elderly man, who suffered minor burns to his arm, and a woman who appeared uninjured were transported by road ambulance to Kilcoy Hospital.

The highway was closed while emergency services attended the incident.
