The old art deco-styled Kingaroy Hospital will soon disappear forever … the foundations of the Boomerang Building are at the front of this photograph

The demolition of the old Kingaroy Hospital building is about to start.

Darling Downs Health spokesperson Dr Paul Clayton said it would take around four weeks for the full demolition.

“The skyline in Kingaroy is about to change again with the old two-storey hospital being demolished over the coming weeks,” Dr Clayton said.

“An accredited asbestos removal contractor has been engaged and a hygienist will need to clear the building prior to commencing demolition.

“These contractors will continue to monitor throughout the process.

“After everything has been removed from the old hospital area, we will start construction on the new hospital entrance and connect the totally refurbished Boomerang Building with the new hospital.

“We’ll also complete the landscaping, seating, and undercover areas.

“People can still access the hospital from the Albert Street entrance with parking still available on-site during construction.”
