Sunshine Coast 2 captain Kaine Frew accepts the winner’s prize for the hotly contested Men’s competition from Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club’s Gary Tessmann

February 11, 2021

Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club’s annual pre-season Soccer 7s carnival was another huge weekend for the club and the town.

Hundreds of players descended on the Tom Alford soccer fields for the two-day annual celebration which not only provides an opportunity to renew friendships but provides a tidy boost to the Kingaroy economy.

A total of 48 teams competed – nine in the Over 35s, 13 in the Women’s and 26 in the Men’s competitions.

Games were hotly contested – as usual – but played in a good spirit, with two of the semi-finals going to nail-biting penalty shootouts.

Teams played each other in pool games on Saturday and Sunday morning before the leading point scorers in each competition played off in the semi-finals and finals on Sunday afternoon.
